Matariki is a time to reflect, reset, and come together as whānau, and Matakana Village is the perfect place to celebrate. Join us for Wai, Kai & Kapa Haka, a vibrant Matariki event set beside the Matakana River, where freshwater meets the sea.

Led by Ngāti Manuhiri Settlement Trust, this special gathering will feature powerful Māori performances, live music, storytelling, and whānau-friendly activities. Experience the magic of Matariki through immersive cultural moments, hands-on experiences, and delicious kai, all in the heart of our beautiful village.

This year, we’re celebrating our connection to water—the lifeblood of our land, just as Waitī and Waitā shine above, connecting us to freshwater and the ocean. In partnership with Friends of Awa Matakanakana (FOAM), we’ll reflect on the importance of our rivers, estuaries, and seas, and how we can help protect them for future generations.
