After establishing the Sierra chain of cafés in Auckland, the proprietors of Matakana Coffee Roasters moved north to be part of the Matakana growers and producers community.  Foundation members of the Matakana Village Farmers’ Market, Lindesay and Angela created the Black Dog Café in Matakana and Catalina Café at Hobsonville Point.

Lindesay has been roasting coffee for 30 years and is involved hands on day to day in his business.  He and his team roast each beautiful batch to that precise moment when the beans release their optimum flavour and aroma.  Matakana Coffee Roasters sources high-grade Arabica green beans from the world’s best-growing regions and estates in the Americas, Middle East and Asia. 

The Roastery is located adjacent to the Matakana Farmers’ Market and the business is an artisan, small batch producer roasting award-winning blends, single origin coffees, and Fairtrade Organic varietals.

Matakana Coffee Roasters’ products are available at selected New World, Pak n Save and Four Square stores; at the Love Shack in the Matakana Village Farmers’ Market.  In addition many of the region’s cafés, restaurants, lodges and bars serve Matakana Coffee.

Matakana Coffee Roasters also exports freshly roasted coffee to China.
